Our campaign

Partners in Hope is a UK charity founded in 1988 to assist and support Russian charitable organisations that are working with vulnerable children and their families, providing alternatives to institutional care.

We are now in the process of setting up a limited series of programmes in London that will reflect the experience we have gained in Russia. These will be specifically focused on helping young care leavers to find sustainable work placements.

The Projects we work with in Moscow and the regions provide psychological support to families, early diagnosis, courses in independent living skills for young orphan graduates and education to give the best possible chance to integrate children with special needs into mainstream schools.   Historically Partners in Hope has been working as an umbrella organisation supporting projects to secure funding for their revenue costs with specific emphasis on teachers salaries since they are the most valuable asset in the organisations.

Partners in Hope works to build partnerships between corporate contacts and the projects. An Advisory Board was formed in Moscow from this donorbase in 2004 made up of Senior Partners who have funded Partners in Hope for at least five years.   We are forming an Advisory Board currently in the UK representing our key business partners who will be providing some of the work opportunities for the young people.

As a small, but highly effective, charity we make sure your money reaches the children that need it the most!

TARGETS FOR 2010

The Extra Mile Programme in London

2,400 young people leave care each year in London. These young people are facing two 'life style ' changes simultaneously :  Living independantly and Entering Employment, a challenge which few young people from less disadvantaged backgrounds would try to tackle at the same time.  Many current programmes are offering training and short term work placement opportunities but very few offer long term employment.

Partners in Hope intends through its long term relationship with businesses many of whom also have offices in London, to provide a real step into a sustainable career.  We will deliver this through

  1. Carefully prepared work placement including tailor made holistic coaching for the young person to ensure that they have made the right choice
  2. Training the employees who will be working alongside the new recruit to ensure that everyone benefits.
  3. Engaging dedicated mentoring staff who will be available to the young person and who themselves have experienced the care system and understand some of the issues that may contribute to vulnerability and lack of self esteem.
  4. We will focus on the positive assets that these young people can bring to the work place and help channel their energy and talents into choosing the right career path for themselves.
  5. Making available a large range of job opportunities in a variety of business ranging from Apple Computers and other technologies to Landscape Gardening , to cheese making at Neals Yard to Pizza Express, Vinopolis and the retail sector.
