Center for Curative Pedagogics (CCP)

This is one of the oldest and biggest NGO’s in Russia. Since 1989 specialists at CCP are helping children with different developmental disorders by fostering the maximum development of their potential, their adaptation and integration into society. Every year over 700 children and teenagers are taking classes by individually tailored educational and rehabilitation programs. Over 9000 families received assistance since it was founded.

The Center has developed and transferred to the state the first integrative kindergartens in the country – “Our home” and “Our home at Presnya”, as well as “Kovcheg” school. Two years ago the Center opened the workshops at a state college, where young people with developmental disorders can learn basics of crafts. Every summer over 600 families are spending their vacations at the integrative camp at Valdai.

The best practices of CCP are in a high demand in many regions of Russia, CIS and Baltic states. Since 1994 CCP convenes international and inter-regional seminars, organize courses of skills enhancement for professionals working in the area of curative pedagogy. The Center has established contacts with 700 rehabilitation organizations throughout the country

Over the next few years CCP aims to :

Reduce the waiting lists for children to start their classes through increasing the number of rehabilitation and educational services, hiring, training and re-training of specialists;
Dissemination of the best practices and methods of the Center through conducting educational seminars and trainings for specialists from governmental and non-governmental organizations working with “special” children and their parents.
Printing and dissemination of specialized literature and methodical guidelines.

It is also providing a tailor-made proposal for Partners in Hope’s new Training Programme for special needs teachers.
